Assumption of the Virgin by Titian Banner Stand

This banner stand is 78" tall by 33" wide and features the image of the Assumption of the Virgin by Titian. Fully retractable and stored in an aluminum case, it takes less than a minute to extend the telescopic pole and unroll the Assumption of the Virgin by Titian banner. Each unit includes a nylon travel bag for storage and transport, making the banner stand an excellent tool for priests, professors, and missionaries who travel and spread devotion to Our Lady - our Queen and Mother. As part of the Renaissance art, Titian painted Assumption of the Virgin from 1516-1518 in the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice, Italy, in order that it may be read by the devout as they proceed toward the altar as they enter the church. Titian relates this beatific event from two different points, connecting them and making them one moment: the Assumption of Mary from her tomb and the Assumption of Mary as she is received into Heaven; Heaven and earth meet in this image. The upward movement of Mary is written into the colors, upward flow of arms, and upward gazing of the eyes - although an onlooker's gaze is directed back to Mary in the end, as God's vision points back to her. This painting is also a response to the time's debate about the Immaculate Conception of Mary (one of the dogma's of the Church), showing support for the belief: Mary was never stained with Original Sin, being preserved by God, so that she could be a fitting temple for Christ. These graces of redemption were applied to her immediately and anticipate our own redemption, paving the way for her Assumption into Heaven: since she was made immaculate, there was nothing keeping her from entering Heaven with her Son. Thus, her Assumption flows from her Immaculate Conception, also anticipating the assumption of the faithful. May this image open our hearts to to greater veneration of our Blessed Mother and remind us of our own - hopefuloly anticipated - total union with God, through surrender, openness, and focus on God. From top-to-bottom, the banner stand measures approximately 78" tall when fully extended. In reality, the banner stand can be extended several inches more, but a total height of 78" is our recommendation for the best combination of visibility and stability. ( STAND-713 )
