In three small towns (villages) in China they have continued the tradition of hand carving bone and stone. Since these boxes take so long to make, each box takes a minimum of 12 hours, production of each piece is limited to 100 and will not be reproduced again. For over a decade, Jo Marz has combined unusual imported and domestic materials, semiprecious stones and unique findings to create highly collectible designs that are hand crafted by artisans. They arrived sooner than expected, in VERY protective wrapping so as not to damage during shipping; and they are lovely! Exactly what we were looking for: large scale urns, but not too heavy (since they are fiberglass), but have the look of being heavy bronze, however heavy enough to give them some substance, and a reasonable price for being able to chose from many color options.
